One of our clients, a global cosmetic supply company, was suffering a 70% cart abandonment rate on their eCommerce site and needed to identify the underlying cause and implement a conversion strategy to boost purchase completions and decrease bounce rate.
Our conversion rate optimization (CRO) team theorized that the high percentage of abandoned carts could be directly linked to high shipping costs, noting that shipping charges are often a particular concern for new shoppers.
Using CRO, we helped this international cosmetics brand gain valuable insight into their current and potential customers’ habits and psyche: shoppers were much more likely to finish a purchase if the shipping charges were waived, and, in turn, they invested those savings and more into additional purchases from that site.
Without the data-driven insight gained by A|B testing, this brand’s marketers may never have identified the source of customer anxiety and continued to experience high cart abandonment and slipping sales.
